How Nurses Can Contribute in Missouri Medical Malpractices

Posted by Alvin Wolff | Feb 13, 2013 | 0 Comments

When we think of medical malpractice, what typically comes to mind is the misconduct or negligence of a doctor. Rarely do we think of nurses, medical assistants, aides, or other medical personnel.

Yet it's the nurses that spend the most time with the patients. They're the ones who administer medications, bandage wounds, and report any warning signs of a potential complication.

Nurses can easily make crucial mistakes resulting in Missouri medical malpractice, such as:

  • Giving an improper dosage of medication
  • Administering the wrong medication
  • Failing to report signs of a serious issue or potential complication to the doctor in a timely manner
  • Giving incorrect or incomplete information to the doctor
  • Injuring the patient while attempting to move him or her

Other hospital workers can also contribute to an injury. Even a janitor who fails to inform a patient of a newly cleaned floor can cause additional injury to that patient.

At best, it can be frustrating to find yourself the victim of further (and unnecessary) pain while you're at the hospital trying to heal. At its worst, a significant error on the part of the nursing staff can have catastrophic results on your health and future well-being.

If you're wondering whether or not you have a potential medical malpractice lawsuit, you should request a consultation with a skilled St. Louis medical malpractice lawyer. For more information, or your free copy of our book, How to Pick a Lawyer, call 877-241-1020.
